Senator Believes There Will Be Another Vacancy On The Supreme Court Soon

And this so soon after we got Judge Neil Gorsuch!

According to this, Senator Chuck Grassley (chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee) has indicated that he thinks there could be another opening on the Supreme Court as soon as this summer –

“I would expect a resignation this summer,” Sen. Chuck Grassley, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, told Iowa’s Muscatine Journal.

Grassley, R-Iowa, said there was a “rumored” retirement in the offing, though he wouldn’t disclose which justice was considering stepping down.

Now, this isn’t exactly breaking news. Rumors have long swirled that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg could be thinking of retirement (even though that would DEVASTATE the left. And here I am without my tiny violin…) There were also rumors of Clarence Thomas retiring as well, but his wife, Ginni, totally debunked that. So, who knows?

But this isn’t the first senator who’s floated the idea that a SCOTUS justice could retire this summer. Ted Cruz mentioned it as well –

Grassley’s comments echo those made in February by fellow Judiciary Committee member and former Supreme Court litigator Sen. Ted Cruz.

“I think we’ll have another Supreme Court vacancy this summer,” said Cruz, R-Texas. “If that happens, as much as the left is crazy now, they will go full Armageddon meltdown.”

All we know is that is could be a very interesting summer for SCOTUS. Stay tuned!
