On the Friday before Election Day, this looks super-sketchy, no doubt about that.
If you’re a DirecTV customer, you might have noticed that both the Fox News and CNN broadcasts were unavailable today. Change the channel to Fox, you get a message that says they’re having technical difficulties. CNN is sudden a pay channel, not unlike HBO (since when do you have to pay extra for CNN??) But MSNBC? Totally fine!
According to this, there is speculation that this was an effort from pro-Hillary hackers to censor channels that might not report favorably toward their Queen –
“What happened to Fox News. This is the only News source in my household and I’m very aggravated that it is being censored! Please provide an explanation why the only conservative news source is in ‘Technical Difficulty’. If it’s being censored I will discontinue my service,” a customer wrote on the DTV USA Forum page.
Another customer wrote: “I too find it very suspicious, and don’t know whether to blame DTV, or mischievous hackers.”
“Fox News is intentionally blacked out for the second day in a row by dishonest DirecTV employees,” another post read. “It’s no coincidence that this happens TWICE in the week before the election — when it hasn’t happened in at least a year prior, if ever. Hey DirecTV, we are not stupid (but apparently you are).”
My parents have DirecTV. They had the same thing happen – no Fox and no CNN (Fox Business seemed to be working fine, however).
So, what it is? Is DirecTV showing their partisanship? Or is it unscrupulous hackers trying to literally shut down anyone who has an unfavorable view of Hillary Clinton (then why block the Clinton News Network, I wonder).
Any other time, this would be a strange occurrence. Four days before a hotly contested election goes to the ballot box? It looks like foul play involved.
