I remain convinced that boycotts never work. Buycotts, on the other hand…
According to this, the Virginia chapter of the National Organization of Women (NOW) ordered their little feminist minions to boycott Wegmans grocery stores in Virginia because the store refused to stop selling Trump brand wine.
Let me just stop and bask in the refreshing fact that a company actually told a bunch of whiny activists to pound sand and stop telling them how to run their business.
Because Wegmans didn’t bow to the almighty Cult of Social Justice, NOW screamed and threw a fit and told everyone to stop shopping at Wegmans. Long stort short: It backfired. Today, the company is reporting that all of the varieties of Trump wines their stores carry are selling out – some are already completely sold out –
According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, five different wines have sold out at two Wegmans in the Richmond area. And in the other eight grocery stores across the state, the wines have either sold out entirely or almost sold out.
“Both Midlothian and Short Pump [stores] have sold out of all five of the Trump wines we carry,” Wegmans spokesperson Joe Natale told the Richmond Times-Dispatch. “They will be replenished when they are available, possibly three to four weeks.”
Wegmans spokesperson Joe Natale also said that if people don’t want to buy a certain product they carry for whatever reason, they certainly don’t have to. Which is the most reasonable thing ANYONE has said when faced with such a boycott –
In response to the protests, Natale said the grocery store’s “role as a retailer is to offer choice to our customers.”
“Individual shoppers who feel strongly about an issue can demonstrate their convictions by refusing to buy a product,” she said. “When enough people do the same, and sales of a product drop precipitously, we stop selling that product in favor of one that’s in greater demand.”
It’s called the “free market,” leftists. And it could do wonders for you, if you actually understood it.
It’s funny how the left thinks if they tell people to stop buying something, they’ll actually do it. But more often than not, the opposite becomes reality. Look at Chick-fil-A, Hobby Lobby, and now Wegmans (which, Wegmans isn’t in Utah so I can’t shop there. But if it was, I’d certainly be checking out what they have). If there’s something that these glorified toddlers don’t want people to have or support, inevitably people (conservative, moderate, or just-don’t-care) gravitate toward it. Maybe it’s just the stupidity of the protest or people don’t like seeing private businesses and citizens being bullied.
Another day, another failed leftist protest. I’ll take it!
