Remember Khizr Khan? He’s the Gold Star father who spoke at the Democratic National Convention last summer and quickly became the left’s unofficial “Donald Trump is an Islamophobic racist!” token.
Khan railed against Trump during his DNC speech and criticized him for blaming terrorism on Islam. He also suggested that Trump had never read the Constitution and said Trump had never sacrificed anything in his life. (Khan also has deep ties to Saudi Arabia AND to the Clinton Foundation, but that’s neither here nor there.)
“Go look at the graves of brave patriots who died defending the United States of America. You will see all faiths, genders and ethnicities. You have sacrificed nothing and no one,” Khan said of Trump.
Trump’s initial response sparked quite a bit of outrage.
“Who wrote that? Did Hillary’s script writers write it?” Trump said of Khan’s remarks. “I think I’ve made a lot of sacrifices. I work very, very hard. I’ve created thousands and thousands of jobs, tens of thousands of jobs, built great structures. I’ve had tremendous success. I think I’ve done a lot.”
I wasn’t afraid to say it then, and I’m not afraid to say it now. It looked bad because it seemed like he was comparing his “sacrifice” to that of Khan’s son. Trump’s team realized this and released a follow-up statement, which reads in part–
“Captain Humayun Khan was a hero to our country and we should honor all who have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep our country safe. The real problem here are the radical Islamic terrorists who killed him, and the efforts of these radicals to enter our country to do us further harm. Given the state of the world today, we have to know everything about those looking to enter our country, and given the state of chaos in some of these countries, that is impossible. While I feel deeply for the loss of his son, Mr. Khan who has never met me, has no right to stand in front of millions of people and claim I have never read the Constitution, (which is false) and say many other inaccurate things. If I become President, I will make America safe again.
“Further, Hillary Clinton should be held accountable for her central role in destabilizing the Middle East. She voted to send the United States to war against Iraq, helped lead the disastrous withdrawal of American troops years later that created the vacuum allowing the rise of ISIS, and has never met a regime change she didn’t like (which have all been disasters) – not to mention her invasion of Libya and her abandonment of American personnel in Benghazi. The loss of these lives in Libya is directly traceable to Clinton, but their families’ testimonials were rejected by the media.
Khan was pleased that Trump acknowledged his son’s sacrifice but said the statement was disingenuous.
“I appreciate his statement calling my son a hero and making this clarification and statement. I appreciate that. But it sounds so disingenuous because of his policies, because of his rhetoric of hatred, of derision, of dividing us,” Khan said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
We all honor Humayun Khan for making the ultimate sacrifice, but that doesn’t mean Khizr Khan gets a free pass. He’s not immune to criticism. If anything, I feel bad for him. He’s nothing more than the left’s pawn. Does he realize that? Probably not. Which brings me to this. Why the heck is Khan at Sessions’ Senate confirmation hearing?

Because the Democrats invited him, of course!
Khzir Khan is at the Sessions hearing, invited by Ds. (Not testifying, just there.)

He’s nothing more than a liberal prop. I wonder how long it will take him to realize that.
