We don’t talk about spoooooooooorts here much, but I thought this was a pretty interesting story. Well, umbrella comment, really.
Apparently, former Major League Baseball pitcher Curt Schilling was being interviewed on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT and that “he believes that 80 to 85 percent of professional athletes are conservatives.”
Why would he say that, you ask?
He cited that “few athletes that expressed support for Hillary Clinton and are drawn to conservatism through the appreciation of hard work.”
“Look around professional sports and look at how many athletes there are and look at how many have come out and spoke out in favor of Clinton or in favor of liberals. They are because it’s mainstream in the public eye to do that right now. All the rest are, for the most part, are conservative because you don’t come out and speak about stuff like that…It’s work ethic,” Schilling said. “To get where they go, to get where a professional athlete gets, you have to work your a** off your entire life. You understand and appreciate an incredibly hard day’s work that, hopefully, will pay off in the future.”
Listen, I’m not going to argue with that logic. Most of the people I know who work 12…16-hour days? Who are plugging away at their own businesses? Who are self-made? Who simply weren’t raised to believe that anyone owes them a darn thing in this life – except themselves? I’ve never been a professional athlete, but I was an athlete growing up, and I know what it’s like to have to train for events and to sacrifice, and work with my team. For me, at least, I can’t imagine being a professional athlete and believing in socialism, for crying out loud.
As many of you know, Schilling was fired from ESPN, because as many of you also know, ESPN isn’t really a sports network anymore as much as it a network of liberal suck that shows sports every so often. Duh.
Anywho, he said that ESPN lied about firing him and that they fired him for “being intolerant because I was actually commenting around the fact men should use the men’s room and women should use women’s room. Apparently, that was enough, the straw that broke the camel’s back,”
This is my favorite part, though. He said that ESPN has “gone full mental since then. They’ve gone way over the edge on the left, having a tribute to Obama after his last day in office, which gave me acid reflux.”
HA HA HA HA. Gone full mental. That’s good stuff.
Anywho, back to the 80-85% of pro athletes being conservative. I wouldn’t doubt that that’s true, just like I wouldn’t doubt that there are a hell of a lot more conservative celebrities in Hollyweird, too. They’re just not out-and-proud about it, because they know that they’ll be criticized and ostracized for it. We all know that being conservative these days is what it was like to be the weirdos in the 60s. We’re the counter-mainstream-culture hippies now. Go figure. And to think…a lot of y’all are wearing khakis.
And if you’re a Trump supporter? Holy cow, you might as well call it a day, because you’re going to have violent protests at your house, complete with women in crocheted pu$$y hats. And if you happen to be a CHILD of Donald Trump? Well, HOW DARE YOU BE BORN.
Because liberals live in perpetual high school, dontchaknow. Sigh.
